Daniel Whitehead grew up in a family of builders. Most children dream of one job and end up in another; Daniel always knew he would build.
He started as an apprentice carpenter and went on to earn his builder's licence, in a family business that at its peak was building five hundred homes a year. A serious operation, and an education in how a build comes together, how trades work, and how much of a home is decided long before anyone sets foot on site.
It was also an education in what gets lost at that scale. When five hundred homes a year are going up, there is no time to sit down with a family and work out how they actually want to live. The plans come through, the house goes up, and the people who will live in it are a name on a contract.
Fifteen years ago, building for himself, he saw the same thing in the custom market: most builders chasing quantity over quality, always rushing on to the next task and the next house. So he went the other way. High-value instead of high-volume. Fewer homes, and the time on each one to take the extra minutes, do things properly the first time, and explore what is really possible on that particular block.
Because a prestige home is not a product to be ordered. It is built around the way one family lives, on one piece of land, and that takes time you simply do not have when you are chasing numbers.
As the company has grown, every member of the team has been trained the same way. Less volume, more value.
